Blind Box
Giving blind boxes a sustainable makeover.
Say hello to the Little Loamies! A sustainable blind box alternative. Made from entirely recyclable and bio degradable materials, our little Loamies create a guilt free blind box experience that captures the same feeling as their less environmentally minded sister products.
Problem
Each blind box generally contains: The box itself, accompanying pamphlets, an outer opaque layer of plastic, an inner thinner layer of plastic, and the figure itself. The figures are mostly made of ATBC-PVC or other types of PVC which are notoriously hard and expensive to recycle, so most places just won't, leaving them to remain on this planet for hundreds of years.
Solution
To prevent the creation of micro and macro plastic waste, we have used PHA, a naturally produced bio plastic. PHA is fully bio-degradable. Not just commercially, but in your own back yard! To cut down on other waste we have used entirely recycled and water soluble materials. By creating packaging that is part of the product it reduces the product’s initial impact. Additionally, any off cuts created by the packaging is used to create the stands inside the boxes.

Little Loamies was presented at the 2025 Exposure Exhibition. As a part of this opportunity, I was able to participate in the Exposure Store. For the store I wanted to sell the Loamies, prints and stickers. I created processes for personally producing large quantities of each of these. This involved creating a workflow for bulk producing a 3D printed version of the Loamies with 100% recycled PLA.
